I’m Starting My 8th Blog at 46. Here’s What I’m Doing Differently.
Welcome to Blog #8, my personal journey toward building an online business and earning my first dollar through blogging, digital products, affiliate marketing, and content creation.
I’m Tanisha Monique, a 46-year-old (Update, I’m 47!) mother of two who’s been interested in blogging and working from home since 2008. After launching my first blog in 2010, I spent the following years experimenting with different blogs, researching different business ideas, changing directions, and struggling to remain consistent.
Now I’m working on my eighth blog, TanishaMonique.com, with a clearer plan and a commitment to documenting my progress. Instead of waiting until I’ve achieved financial success to share my experiences, I’m writing about the work involved while learning how to develop a sustainable online business.
My first financial milestone is earning $1 through this new blogging journey. I’ll share my progress, expenses, lessons, and results as I work toward reaching my goal.
🌼 Why I’m Sharing My Blogging Journey
For years, I spent more time researching blogging than developing a business. I purchased resources, explored different niches, adjusted website designs, and regularly questioned whether I was making the right decisions. Although those experiences taught me useful lessons, my inconsistent approach prevented me from reaching my financial goals.
I’m documenting Blog #8 to hold myself accountable and provide an example of what building an online business involves from a beginner’s perspective.
You’ll learn about the decisions I’m making, the tools I’m using, the content I’m publishing, and the challenges I’m experiencing. I’ll also explain my mistakes and share changes I make as I evaluate my progress.
My goal is to provide an accurate account of my experiences while encouraging women interested in blogging to research their options and develop their own plans.
💻 What I’m Working On
Building Blog #8 involves several connected projects, each supporting my goal of developing an online business.
Blogging and SEO: I’m creating helpful articles, organizing my website, learning keyword research, and developing a publishing schedule to attract readers interested in my content.
Affiliate Marketing: I’m researching relevant affiliate programs and learning how to recommend products responsibly while following disclosure requirements.
Digital Products: I’ve already created two digital guides and plan to learn more about product marketing, customer needs, and developing resources for my audience.
Email Marketing: I’m building Honeybee Notes, an email community where subscribers will receive blog updates, useful resources, and information about my progress.
UGC and Content Creation: I’m developing my content creation skills, preparing my portfolio, and learning how to approach brands about potential partnerships.
Business Organization: I’m establishing routines, tracking expenses, measuring results, and using a schedule to improve consistency.
I’ll share progress across these areas as I complete projects and gain experience.
💸 My First Financial Goal
My first milestone is earning $1 through the business I’m developing around Blog #8.
I’ve already own two digital products, but I haven’t established consistent online income. This series will follow my efforts to attract readers, build an audience, promote relevant products, and develop opportunities for earning revenue.
I’ll document my progress using measurable information, including published articles, website traffic, email subscribers, marketing activities, business expenses, and revenue.
When I reach my first financial milestone, I’ll explain where the income came from, which activities contributed to the result, and what I learned from the experience.
My long-term goal is to build sustainable income, improve my financial stability, and create more opportunities for my family.
